How to Cook a Ribeye Steak

Cook Time 90 Minutes

Serves 3

  • 2 (16 to 24 ounce each) bone-in ribeye steaks, about 1 1/2 inches thick
  • Kosher salt, for seasoning
  • Salted butter, for finishing

Season the steaks with kosher salt on all sides. Rest at room temperature for at least an hour while you prepare the smoker or grill.

 

Set a grill or smoker to low, aiming for about 250 degrees F. Smoke the steaks at 250 degrees F  to 130 degrees F. This will take about an hour.

 

Remove the steaks from the smoker and rest for 30 minutes. While the steaks rest heat the grill or a flat top to high heat.

 

Sear the steaks on the hot grill for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the steaks from the heat and top with butter just before slicing.
